It started with a job at the frozen food plant.
In 1948, Darrell Ramey began working for Harris Frozen Food here in Brawley. Twenty-five years later he bought the business outright and put his own name over the door.
His son Dale started working alongside him while he was still in high school. In the early years the shop did custom processing for families who raised their own beef, selling it out by the quarter and the half.
Then they began seasoning carne asada with their own marinade — and it has been the best seller ever since.
Today the case is all natural beef only: USDA Choice and Prime, featuring Brandt Beef, corn fed for over 365 days with no antibiotics or hormones by injection, feed or water. Steaks are custom cut to your order and vacuum sealed one at a time, so they reach your freezer as fresh as they left the block.
